Technohub Implementation: Managed Security and Backup for Middle East Operations

A regional technology hub operating across the Middle East needed managed colocation with enterprise-grade security and backup for their infrastructure. Cloudzme delivered a compliant managed services deployment meeting local data sovereignty requirements.

The Challenge

A technology services company operating across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt required infrastructure for their regional operations that met strict data sovereignty requirements: client data could not leave the region, and the hosting facility needed to meet the compliance certifications required by their financial and government sector clients. Public cloud options in the region were available but did not fully meet their specific compliance requirements or their need for dedicated hardware for certain workloads. The organization needed a managed colocation solution with enterprise security controls, comprehensive backup, and 24/7/365 support.

The Solution

Cloudzme provided a managed colocation deployment in a UAE-based Tier III certified facility, with dedicated cage space, customized server configurations for the client's specific workload mix, enterprise-grade backup and disaster recovery, and managed security services.

Implementation

Infrastructure Design and Deployment

The infrastructure design addressed three distinct workload categories. Core application servers—dedicated bare metal servers configured for the client's specific application performance requirements—were deployed with redundant power feeds, dual network connectivity, and hardware RAID for storage resilience. Database servers were configured with high-memory specifications for the client's in-memory database workloads, with synchronous replication to a secondary server providing database-level high availability. Storage infrastructure used enterprise NAS with automated tiering to manage cost across hot (NVMe SSD), warm (SAS HDD), and cold (tape) tiers, with daily snapshots and off-site backup to a secondary Cloudzme facility.

Security and Compliance Implementation

The security implementation addressed the client's compliance requirements for their financial and government sector clients. Physical security certification (ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II) covered the facility infrastructure. Network security implemented managed firewall with IPS, DDoS mitigation upstream, and dedicated VLAN segmentation between client workload environments. Monitoring implemented 24/7 security operations with SIEM integration, anomaly detection, and incident response procedures aligned to the client's required response SLAs. Compliance documentation supported the client's regulatory reporting requirements, providing facility certification documentation and managed security service reports.

Backup and Disaster Recovery

The backup and disaster recovery implementation met the client's RPO (Recovery Point Objective) of 4 hours and RTO (Recovery Time Objective) of 8 hours. Daily full backups with 4-hourly incremental backups provided the RPO. Backup data replicated to a secondary Cloudzme facility in a different UAE datacenter provided geographic redundancy. Monthly DR tests, documented in the managed service report, validated RTO achievement and identified configuration issues before they became actual recovery scenarios. The DR test results were included in the compliance evidence package that the client submitted to their regulated industry clients.
